Eunice Figueiredo was born in Recife, Brazil in 1947. Her mother, denied the right to study, told her children that education was the only fortune no one could take from you. Her father, a practical man, told her at age seven that she would be an architect. Both were right. She has lived and worked in the Holy Land for over fifty years alongside her husband Peter Bugod. Her projects include the restoration of Damascus Gate as a public plaza, the Old City markets in Nazareth — selected among the 50 best projects in Israel's first 50 years — and forty years of continuous work on the monastery complex at Abu Ghosh, a site inhabited for 8,000 years and believed to be where Jesus appeared to his disciples after his death. The clients there, she says, became family. Now living in Zichron Yaakov, she paints to reveal the hidden beauty of what lies beneath — trees, roots, and the invisible connections between all living things.
A quiet note when a new film is released. Nothing else.
